Most of us think karma is something related to spirituality or superstition. The 12 laws of karma will definitely burst the myth. In fact, there is nothing as logical as them. Karma is equivalent to Newton’s law of Motion: “For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.”
The 12 Laws Of Karma
1. The Law Of Cause And Effect
You must have heard this phrase: “Whatever goes around, comes around“. The first law depicts exactly that ” Whatever one puts out into the Universe will come back to them.” That means whatever you sow, you shall reap!
According to this law, whatever thoughts, energy, or actions you put out, you get back. It can be good or bad depends on you. To get what you want, you have to manifest and be worthy of those things.
For example, if you want to be respected by others, you need to be respectful to them as well.
2. The Law Of Creation
The law of creation is something which you must have heard now and then. In simple words, it says if you want something from life you need to work for it. Nothing will happen if you just sit and wait.
The law says “life doesn’t just happen to us”. To make things happen in our life, we need to take action, instead of waiting for something to magically come your way.
For example, you want to lose weight but you are eating loads of junk food and not ever working out daily. Will you lose weight?
3. The Law Of Humility
The law of humility says “one must accept something in order to change it“. If you see everything in a negative light then you will not be able to focus on the higher level of existence.
In simple words, it means you need to be humble enough to accept that your current reality is the result of your past actions. Nothing in life happens without reason.
For example, if you’re blaming your teammates for your poor performance at work, you must accept that it is not them but you who could not perform well.
If the external forces are distracting you from reaching your goals, it’s not their fault but yours. As you could not keep your focus. So when you accept reality it becomes easier to move on. Moreover, you learn from your experiences and save yourself from making the same mistakes again.
4. The Law Of Growth
“Charity begins at home“, you must have heard this ample amount of times right? It means if you want to do anything good for the world start it with yourself first.
The law of growth means the same, the only difference is it talks about growth. It says ” Growth is within yourself.” It is because you can only bring real change or personal growth once you have control over yourself first.
It also says if you want to grow you need to control yourself and not anyone else. Your life, growth, and success are in your hands. When you try to control others you lose control over yourself eventually losing yourself too.
5. The Law Of Responsibility
From all the laws of karma, this law is a reminder that you own what happens to you in life. It claims that “whatever happens to you is only because of you“. This also means that you must not look anywhere else to find the cause of your problems.
Your life depends on the choices you make. Everything that happens to you is because of the choices you are making in your life. When we make the right choices we praise ourselves and when the choices are wrong we blame it on various factors. Isn’t it unfair?
For example, a man beats his wife every day but the wife still stays with him. She complains and cries every day saying why is this happening to her. Isn’t it evident why it is happening to her? Simply because she is choosing to stay instead of taking a stand for herself and leaving.
If something wrong is happening with us, we need to find the reasons within us. We must take responsibility for our lives and if something wrong happens rather than blaming it on others, we should accept and start finding the solutions for it.
6. The Law Of Connection
The law says ” everything in our lives, including our past, present, and future are connected.” Each step you take will lead you to the next step. Everything you are today is the result of your previous actions.
Even the smallest or seemingly least important of things you do is because everything in the Universe is connected. As absurd as this may sound, but it is the universal truth. Even the laws of karma are connected.
For example, you study to get a job or you build a good networking with people to get business benefits. Everything is connected, you do not do anything without reason, right?
7. The Law Of Focus
To become successful one thing which is extremely important is the focus. Whether you want to be successful in your career or life, you need to have focus. The law advises you to “focus on one thing at a time.”
It is because when you give all your attention to a single task, you tend to complete it faster and more efficiently. Whereas when you take up multiple tasks altogether you end up doing everything till the end of the day.
It also adds to your stress as you know that you still need to complete all the tasks. However, when you concentrate on one and keep on completing tasks one by one the stress gradually reduces. Moreover, you also need to be focused on your goals in such a way that nothing on earth can distract you.
For example, you need to earn a lot of money and you are working hard for that. However, someday you receive a message that claims you will win a lottery if you pay some amount of money. You need to be focused enough to not fall on such traps and keep on working towards your goals.
8. The Law Of Giving
We must give to the things we believe in. This law wants us to understand the importance of our actions, reflecting our deeper beliefs.
For example, you want a peaceful environment but when the kids in your society play loudly you get irritated and shout at them. Their parents then come to you and start arguing, with this, you lost want you wanted.
However, what if you made a deal? You make yourself that they are kids and they will play. Sometimes you let them play and distract their noise with music or something else and other times you can request them to slow down a bit. Easier, right?
9. The Law Of Now & Here
This is the most important of all the laws of karma. It simply says “if you want peace of mind, you must embrace the present“. This will only happen when you stop thinking about the negative thoughts or behaviors from your past.
Focus on now because that is in your control. Past has gone and you cannot change it and worrying about the future will not make it better. Rather live your present and be mindful now for a better future.
Meditation helps a lot with this as it increases focus and concentration. Whenever you feel like the past is overpowering you remind yourself to come back to the present. Take lessons from your past and move on!
10. The Law Of Change
According to this law, “history will continue to repeat itself until we learn from our experiences and take steps to do something differently to stop the cycle.”
Change gives us a new path so that we can create a new future and a better version of ourselves, free from the patterns of the past.
11. The Law Of Significance
No one in this world will go without contributing something to the world. Everyone is here for a purpose, you may think your contribution is small but it may bring a significant value to someone else’s life.
This law “motivates you when you think you have no purpose or matter in life“. Even keeping your family or taking care of your body is a purpose. Every small contribution is significant and makes everyone in this world significant.
For example, you take out some time from your busy schedule to go out for dinner with your family. You make your family happy with one of your gestures, isn’t that significant enough?
12. The Law Of Patience & Reward
Patience is another important factor to be successful and happy in your life. If you want rewards you need to be consistent in your goals and at the right time, you will get what you deserve.
Everyone has a goal in life, though sometimes you may not know what is your goal. In that case here are some simple steps to help you to set a goal in life.
For example, you want to be a black belt of karate. You practice till you become a white belt and leave it after that as it is taking too long. Will you be able to reach your goal? However, if you keep patience and keep on working towards getting the black belt, one day you will surely attain the same.
These 12 laws of karma is a guideline or road map that you must follow as you go through your daily life. Using laws of karma as a set of valuable life lessons in your life can inspire you to be more mindful of your thoughts, decisions, and deeds before you take any action.
